Fendi at Mister Spex

The success story of the Italian fashion house Fendi started in the heart of Rome, on Via del Plebiscito. It was here that Adele and Edoardo Fendi founded a leather shop in 1925, which soon became very popular amongst the Romans. Above all, they appreciated the quality of the craftsmanship and the elegant style of the designs. The couple quickly opened another shop and laid the foundations for the Fendi empire, which is now known all over the world.

Family business explores new directions

When Adele and Edoardo Fendi's five daughters - Paola, Anna, Franca, Carla and Alda - joined their parents' company in 1946, they were full of energy and ready to pursue their numerous goals. In 1965, the five Fendi daughters acquired a young designer with whom they subsequently worked with.

His name: Karl Lagerfeld. With his innovative ideas, he revolutionised existing traditions and helped Fendi to achieve further fame. Later, Karl Lagerfeld became the chief designer of the women's collection and, together with Silvia Venturini, Adele and Edoardo's granddaughter, was the creative director at the heart of the company. In the 1990s the label's style was rather clean, but the designs changed with the introduction of the Peekaboo bag. Since then the brand has become more eye-catching, which is reflected in existing iconic models such as the baguette bag. The combination of innovation and tradition in harmony with Fendi's unique savoir-faire inspires fashion lovers all over the world and is one of the strengths that distinguishes the brand's collections.
